BOOMDOG OLYMPIC GAMES
微奥林匹克竞赛 (2015.3)
|
Entering the gym the sound of anticipation filled the room. Returning students knew what was about to come. Incoming students waited in expectation of making the stories they had heard from so many of their peers become part of their memory. After what felt like hours of instruction, the games the students had waited for became a reality.
out to the field, students dressed in red, white, and blue, or looking like batman, tie-dye, or camouflage lined up on the field for the first found of games. Over the next four hours, students enjoyed pulling each other around, seeing teams fall in the mud after tug-o-war, kicking a soccer ball, dodging dodge balls, and sliding past beach balls in a game of four-way soccer on a slip and slide. This annual tradition is a welcomed break from routine classes. It falls at the end of ACA’s Spiritual Emphasis Week and serves as an important community-building event. |
FOREST HOME 野营(2014.10)
There are few other regions of the country that have such easy access to both the scenic grandeur of rising mountains and the mirror-like quality of the Pacific Ocean. In few other places can students spend three days at a mountain retreat one-half hour from the school and so soon after enjoy a field trip to the beach not much more than an hour away. ACA is truly blessed to be in a place like Redlands, where it is so easy to get so many places.
All ACA students spent the first three days of October at a school-wide retreat at Camp Forest Home. Students enjoyed meaningful times of worship, engaging speakers, great meals, campus-wide games, including the now ACA-famous “Dye Wars”, and many other free-time activities. Many students enjoyed the zip line and a giant swing. Others enjoyed relaxing by the small lake. |
